REMOVAL OF

THE WRAP

After your tattoo is complete, your artist will clean and cover the area with  a Saniderm-type clear bandage

 Saniderm (Clear Bandage)

  • Wear Time: Leave on for up to 5 days.

  • Washing: You can shower, but avoid baths.

  • What to Expect: Ink and plasma leakage filling the bandage is normal.

  • Removal: Remove the bandage in the shower under warm water. If left on for 4–5 days, the tattoo should be mostly healed. Apply lotion afterward to moisturize and help with itching.

  • If Leaking: If the Saniderm leaks during the first few days, remove it in the shower, replace it with plastic wrap if necessary, and then follow the cleaning instructions provided below.

CARING FOR YOUR NEW TATTOO

Keep your new tattoo clean and follow these care tips:

  • Wash 2–3 times daily with antibacterial soap and warm water; blot dry or air dry.

  • Rewrap with clean plastic for the first 5 days to prevent mess.

  • If unwrapped, apply a very thin layer of Aquaphor or Proteya lotion, dab off excess.

  • Avoid soaking in baths, pools, or natural bodies of water for 2 weeks.

  • Do not scratch, pick, shave, wax, or tan the area while healing. Pat gently to relieve itching.

  • Avoid direct sunlight for the first 2 weeks; after healing, use sunscreen to prevent fading.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER YOUR TATTOO

A tattoo is an open wound; proper aftercare is essential to prevent infection and ensure good healing.

Healing Overview

  • Initial: Expect redness, swelling, and irritation for 1–3 days, with possible bruising for up to a week.

  • Scabbing & Peeling: Some scabbing and flaking/peeling (around days 3–10) is normal. Never pick at scabs or flakes; let them fall off naturally.

  • Itching: If the tattoo itches, avoid scratching. Try a light slap over clothing for relief.

  • Bubbles: If bubbles form, stop using ointments and let the area dry naturally.

  • Care: Keep the area clean and lightly moisturized. Your ink will remain intact if you do not traumatize the area.
