Q: How do I take care of my new tattoo?
A: Visit our Aftercare page to view our aftercare instructions.
Q: Does Depiction accept walk-ins?
A: We usually work by appointment only, but we do occasionally post on our Facebook page if an artist has a cancellation or open spot for a day.
Q: How would I go about setting up an appointment?
A: Typically, we will ask you to take a look through the portfolios and pick an artist, then call or email and we can set up a 20-30 minute consultation for you to come in, sit down and talk to the artist about exactly what you want done. At the end of the consultation you will set up the appointment and put a deposit down for the tattoo.
Q: What is the deposit and what is it for?
A: We take deposits for every tattoo appointment. They are non-refundable and used to solidify the appointment when you set it. The deposit amount will be applied to the final price of the tattoo at your final session. You must call the shop and speak to someone within 48 hours of your appointment to reschedule if needed. If you fail to show up for your appointment or call to reschedule within 48 hours, your deposit will be forfeited.
Q: If I have an appointment set can I ask to have the design sent to be prior to the appointment date?
A: No, all drawings must stay in shop until the appointment. We do not send out or allow pictures to be taken of drawings or tattoos. Unless otherwise stated by the artist, designs usually aren't drawn up until a day or so before the appointment. However, there is plenty of time on the appointment date to make any changes needed to a design prior to tattooing.
Q: Can I get a tattoo if I am under 18 years of age? If I have a parental gaurdian present?
A: No. You must be over 18 years of age to get a tattoo, even with parental consent.
Q: What forms of ID do you accept?
A: We only accept government issued picture IDs such as drivers licenses, passports, military IDs and state issued IDs. If you do not have a drivers license you are able to go to your local DMV and apply for a state issued ID for a small fee.
We do not accept birth certificates or school IDs.
Q: Can I get tattooed if I am pregnant?
A: No. Getting tattooed while pregnant or breast-feeding has the possibility of complications to your health and the health of your baby.
Q: Should I eat before getting tattooed?
A: Yes, definitely. It it highly recommended to eat within 1-2 hours of being tattooed. Having stable blood sugar bolsters your immune system and helps the body deal with the fluctuation of endorphins, which are emitted during the tattoo process.
Q: What do I need to bring to my tattoo appointment?
A: You must bring a valid government issued ID to every appointment, even if you have been in the shop before or are working on a tattoo that has already been started. It is also recommended to bring a drink and a snack.
Q: Can you cover up my tattoo?
A: Probably. Tattoo cover ups depend on the tattoo you currently have and the design you'd like to use to cover it. Flexibility is important when it comes to getting a cover up done - The artist will take your ideas and let you know options that will work the best.
For cover ups, start by emailing the shop with a current image of the tattoo that you are wanting to cover up. Also, send over any images and a brief description of your idea(s) that you want to cover it up with.
Q: How long does it take for a new tattoo to heal?
A: If taken care of properly, the healing process takes around 2 weeks.
